Rosa Rendl
Rosa Rendl (*1983) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vienna. Her practice focuses on photography, music and fashion. She has been part of the experimental pop duo LONELY BOYS for more than ten years and moves between music and visual art as a singer, producer, and classically trained pianist. Her debut solo single "Okay Now" and her solo album “Opportunity Lover” were recently released, in which a unique form of immediacy is created through fragility and reduction. As a designer, she is the founder of RENDL Swimwear.
In her photographs, Rendl negotiates the modes of production and emotional states that are at odds with each other when she makes herself, the artist, the subject. Her photographic works often show personal situations mobilized with a romantic conceptualism. They provide an insight into the artist's personalized order and at the same time allude to a private sphere that no longer exists. Rendl's collages and photographic installations are subtle, analytical, poetic, and political at the same time.
She has exhibited in public and private spaces, such as Belvedere 21 Museum of Contemporary Art (Vienna), Neuer Essener Kunstverein (Essen), Georg Kargl Fine Arts (Vienna), KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin), Halle für Kunst Lüneburg (Lüneburg), Salzburger Kunstverein (Salzburg), and Bodega (New York) amongst others.
